11/15 Devotional

Today's devotion (already read by the team who is now a day ahead of us) is encouragingly shared by Byron Goo.
I apologize for any oddness in the format, but I had to hurry before my co-workers left me!

Today's devotion starts with God challenging Job. God created a crocodile as a fearsome creature. Powerful and well protected with boney scales and impenetrable skin. Surely it would be a
perilous fight if we had to tangle with a crocodile.

As you make your way towards India, realize you are heading towards a crocodile. The country's sheer populous, the living conditions and the pollution can be physically challenging. You've prepared for it by packing certain gear. You've brought specific resources and expertise that may be needed.

But remember the spiritual fight that lays ahead and prepare yourself for it as well. India has 200 million false god and prophets that deceive its people. They are God's creation just like the crocodile. You are being sent to lead them out of darkness.

"Be strong with the Lord's mighty power. Put on God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mightly powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:10-12.
Everyday for the duration of the mission, consecrate (purify) yourself to be used by God. Put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness and the helmet of salvation. Pick up your shield of faith and walk in the shoes of peace. Have at your ready command the sword of the spirit, the word of God and the name of Jesus, to breakdown strongholds of the enemy.

"Now wherever we go he uses us to tell others about the Lord and to spread the Good News like a sweet perfume. Our lives are a fragrance presented by Christ to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and those perishing. To those who are perishing we are a fearful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for a task such as this? You see we are not like those hucksters - and there are many of them - who preach just to make money. We preach God's message with sincerity and with Christ's authority. And we know that the God we sent us is watching over us."2 Cor 2:14-17 NLT

After God's final challenge, Job prays for his friends as instructed. God heals Job and blesses him with even more fortune.
Pray for India especially the people that God introduces you to on this trip. Pray for your team members. Pray for miracles and expect them to happen. God will heal and bless you just as he did is servant Job because He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Amen.

Kiha shared that things are going well so far, especially because of our prayers. They are not quite halfway after 13+ hours of flying (Phewww!) Please let one of your focuses of prayer today be for their adjustment to the time changes as well as to the exhaustion they will be experiencing just with the intensity of the journey.

  1. 2 COR 1:8 We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. 9Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 10He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, 11as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

Paul and Timothy suffered greatly in Asia and yet Paul writes that there was a purpose in his suffering - so that he would not rely on himself but on God. Rely on God, have faith in God and His power to restore and deliver you. Paul recognized also God answered the many prayers for himself and Timothy.

As you, our missionaries, travel to India, you will face many hardships, challenges and setbacks. There are so many evil spirits in that area and they will target you! Continue to rely on God. As Byron said, keep on God’s armour to protect and stand firm in your mission. We, the home team continue to pray for your safety, protection and God’s guidance and wisdom on you.

Dear Heavenly Father, We thank you so much for your constant support and protection. We ask that you lift up our mission team members, spiritually and physically as they continue in their travels. Help to provide them with the physical rest that their bodies need and spiritual rest to comfort and restore them. Amen.
