11/19 Devotional & Prayer Focus

Good morning, Mussoorie Team! We had a wonderful morning of worship. We learned a new song, and Pastor Danny Yamashiro gave the message today. Your absence was strongly felt, but we all know that God has called you to be right where you are at this moment. We pray that your Monday will be full of new discoveries and more relationship building!

Today's reading is Matthew 1-4. Today's devotional insight is affectionately shared by J'nel Smith.

Aloha Team,
I hope you are enjoying the beauty of Himalayas and the Chaiiiiiii tea!

“ ‘…the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned’.” From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” —Matthew 4:16-17

Just at the appointed time, Jesus began to preach, after having overcome incredible trials—a miraculous birth, a father who listened to God and moved his young family to Egypt and back, and the tempting of Satan. He came to Capernaum and the surrounding area to be the Great Light to a land filled with people living in darkness. No longer would death be their only option; Jesus had come to give them life, hope and the truth!!

God has appointed each one of you to take this journey of a thousand (and more) miles to a land filled with beautiful people living in the shadow of death and darkness. Many of you have overcome incredible trials to be here in India, through God’s miracles and faithfulness. Jai Masih! You are enjoying the amazing men, women and children at the Boys’ and Girls’ Home who are living their lives for the Lord. They have seen and believed the Light, and a new hope and a future has dawned in their lives. Just like Jesus at the appointed time, they and you will be sharing that truth of the Gospel. But too, there are soooo many in this land who have not yet heard the words, “Repent, for the kingdom is near,” and “a loving God is waiting for you!” So my prayer for you, Hawaii team, is…

Dear Heavenly Father, Faithful and Abundant Father, show each one of the team members why you have chosen them to experience India and Mussoorie, whether it be a personal time of growth or as an active team builder into the Boys’ Home. Show each one of them, dismissing doubt or confusion or fear, and with clarity, boldness and confirmation, the purpose and timing of this fantastic journey of a thousand miles. Dear God, instill deep compassion and deep joy to be a mirror and a reflection of Your Great Light in a country hungry and desperate for YOU! Protect the team for the next couple of days in Mussoorie and for the time they travel back home to Hawaii. You are the God of wisdom and power; be ever present with the team and in their hearts and minds. Shower blessings on Pastor Ashish, Pastor Girish, Pastor Dan and Pastor Nixon (and family and all) and on the Hawaii team. We love you, Jesus. In your precious and holy name, Amen.

I can’t wait to see you and hear all your stories. In his Love, J’nel

J'nel was on the first NHDH mission trip to Mussoorie, and its people hold a special place in her heart and prayers.

For your prayer focus today, pray for continued health and safety for the team. Pray for vision and God's leading as they discuss the next steps to be taken.
